How it started…
Nine years ago, founders Meg Gonda and Kealy White were both looking for educational options for their growing families. In the midst of their searching, God made it clear that He was calling them to start the kind of school they were looking for.
As they began to pursue this call, the vision became clear that families of Greater Waterbury needed something more than just another high-quality, private school. They believed that God’s heart was also to provide students recurring opportunities to impact the communities around them as part of their learning. In 2019, Impact Christian Academy was founded and thus began to unfold the design of community service-oriented private education that supports Christian families.
Thw Lord made it clear that the name would become the mission, and “Impact Christian Academy” would now be known as “City Mission Schools.” As the school develops further into God’s design, our staff is excited for the future, both in academics and city-wide outreach.
The Original Core Team
As the vision of City Mission Schools continued to take shape, an original core team became integral to the development and growth of the school. This team played a vital role in increasing student enrollment, meeting the evolving needs of our classrooms and families, and helping establish the organizational structure that would support the mission for years to come. Wearing many hats along the way, they worked not only to maintain the day-to-day needs and demands of the school, but also to help facilitate the preparation, formalization, and integration of the organization as a nonprofit. Their contributions helped refine the progressive development of the school, strengthen its foundation, and move the vision from an idea into an established ministry of education and community impact. While some members of this original crew have since stepped into other roles within the organization, their investment remains an important part of our story. They were instrumental in helping get City Mission Schools to where it is today and in laying the foundation for where God is taking it next..
